Un refugio para el amor (Official translation: A Shelter For Love) is a Mexican Spanish-language telenovela produced by Ignacio Sada Madero for Televisa. It is a remake of the Venezuelan telenovela La Zulianita, written by Delia Fiallo and adapted by Nora Alemán and Georgina Tinoco. Zuria Vega and Gabriel Soto star as the main protagonists, while Jessica Coch, Humberto Elizondo, Laura Flores and Frances Ondiviela star as the main antagonists.

On February 6,^[2][3] Canal de las Estrellas broadcasted Un Refugio para el Amor, replacing Esperanza del Corazón The last episode was broadcast on September 23, 2012,^[4] with Corona de Lágrimas replacing it.^[5][6]

Univision confirmed a prime time airing of Un Refugio para el Amor.^[7][8] From May 24 to July 13, 2012, Univision aired 2-hour episodes of Un Refugio para el Amor at 7pm/6c, replacing Una familia con suerte.^[9] On July 16, Univision broadcasted Por Ella Soy Eva weeknights at 8pm/7c, replacing one hour of Un Refugio para el Amor.^[10] The last episode was broadcast on November 30, 2012,^[11] with Corona de Lágrimas replacing it.^[12]

Though Canal de las Estrellas broadcasted Un Refugio para el Amor in the afternoon, it became the most successful telenovela in the afternoon time slot, having more viewership than its predecessors Esperanza del Corazón and Rafaela.^[13] Due to its success, Ignacio Sada had announced that the series finale episode of Un Refugio para el Amor would be broadcast on Sunday September 23, 2012.^[14]

Synopsis [edit]

Luciana Jacinto Flores (Zuria Vega) lives with her family: her presumed mother Paz, her presumed father Galdino (Jose Carlos Ruiz) and her brother called Lorenzo in a village called San Francisco el Alto. Galdino is indebted to Don Aquiles because his crops are not as good as in the preceding years. Don Aquiles orders his employee to set Galdino's crops on fire. When seeing his crops on fire, Galdino has a heart attack and dies.

At the same time, Rodrigo Torreslanda (Gabriel Soto) and his brother Patricio climb a mountain. Patricio falls down the mountain. At the hospital, his family is informed that he is paralyzed.

Maximino Torreslanda (Roberto Blandon) is director of an aviation company called Corporativo TorresLanda. He is married to Rosalena but he also has a mistress. Luciana gets job in a club and then as servant in the Torreslanda mansion. Rodrigo dates Gala and they get engaged. Rodrigo falls in love with Luciana and Patricio likes her. Luciana falls in love with Rodrigo.

Lawyer Claudio Linares helps Luciana in a legal problem. In the past, Aurora (Nora Salinas), Rosalena, Maximo and he were friends. Both Claudio and Maximo worked at Corporativo TorresLanda. Claudio was framed by Maximo for a fraud that he did not commit and was sent to prison where he would stay 20 years. Aurora was pregnant with Claudio's child and went into labour ahead of time. She gave birth to Luciana and she asked Rosalena to take care of her child in case she died. Rosalena believed that Maximo cheated on her with Aurora and, after Aurora died, she gave Luciana away to her gardeners, Paz and Galdino, and told Claudio that both Aurora and her baby died.

Rodrigo dumps Gala in front of the altar to marry Luciana. After a while he gets married to Luciana in San Francisco el Alto. Rosalena, Gala and July manage to separate Luciana from Rodrigo by publishing photos from when Luciana worked in a club in Gala's magazine. Luciana and Rodrigo divorce. Both Luciana and Gala discover that they are pregnant with Rodrigo's child. Rodrigo and Gala get married.

Claudio Linares brings Maximino to trial. He wants to prove everyone that: he is innocent, he didn't commit any fraud, Maximo framed him the fraud and he didn't sign any paper authorizing money transfer. Claudio wins the trials and gets back the actions he had at Corporativo TorresLanda. He passes them over to Luciana.

Luciana gives birth to a baby boy while Rodrigo and Claudio are out of the country on a business trip. She has complication and becomes weak after the birth. Gala, Julie and Rosalena plot with a cleaner in the clinic and little Rodrigo is snatched from Luciana's arms by Rosalena and given to Gala, when she faints in the streets, while trying to run away to save her son from Gala. Gala dumps baby Rodrigo in a trash and runs away at the sound of police sirens and the poor child ends up in the arms of a drunkard named Chelo who takes him at his house. Gala later returns to finish what she started only to realize baby Rodrigo was nowhere to be found. Gala gives birth to a little girl.

5 years afterwards, Rodrigo and Gala's baby has grown up. But, Rodrigo and Luciana's child is living with the man who found him. He is called Mateo and sells newspapers in the street. Lorenzo and Jana start dating. Rodrigo and Gala divorce. Rodrigo and Luciana look for their child and meet Mateo. Gala and July meet some men who persuade them to invest their money.

Rosalena's madness worsenes and she tries to stop Lorenzo and Jana's wedding. Rosalena confesses Luciana and Rodrigo that she stole Luciana's child when she gave birth and that Gala took him away. Patricio discovers that Mateo is Rodrigo's son when noticing that he is wearing the necklace he gave him when he was born.
